Job Description

A growing commercial construction company is seeking an Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager to support daily accounting operations and help lead key system implementations. This individual will play an important role in improving processes, supporting financial reporting, and helping scale the accounting function during a period of growth and transformation.

This opportunity is ideal for either an experienced Accounting Manager or a Senior Accountant ready to take the next step into leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with ERP and payroll system implementations
  • Manage general ledger activities and month-end close
  • Oversee fixed assets, depreciation, and account reconciliations
  • Handle intercompany transactions and reporting
  • Support construction accounting and job costing processes
  • Assist with financial reporting and internal controls
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff
  • Partner with leadership to improve systems and accounting processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Construction accounting experience preferred but not required
  • Experience with job costing and project accounting is a plus
  • ERP system experience required; implementation experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Leadership experience or desire to grow into a management role

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in multi-entity environments
  • ERP platforms such as Sage Intacct, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics
  • Payroll system experience a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
